Official Present-Day German Black Red and Gold Tri-Color Flag

The official civil and state flag of Germany consists of three horizontal bars of black, red, and gold from top to bottom. This flag design was first known to be used in 1848 in the German Confederation. The German Empire also used it in 1848 and ’49. The tri-color was adopted as the national flag of the German Reich during the the Weimar Republic from 1919 to 1933. It has been in use since its post-World War 2 reintroduction in the Federal Republic of Germany in 1949.

Made of durable, lightweight Oxford-style polyester material that has the look and feel of nylon, and similar durability to nylon. Also, it is light enough to fly easily in the lightest breezes. The artwork is visible on both sides of the flag.
